Post-punk band from Whittier, CA, formed in 2008 — Brandon Blaine (vocals), Jay Rogers (guitar), Michael Perez (bass), and Luke Perine (drums). Named after a Mexican folk tale, the band signed to Epitaph in 2014 and built a ferocious reputation for physical, volatile live shows. Their debut Free to Eat (2014) and follow-up Bloodsweat (2016, produced by Stuart Sikes) earned them Alternative Press’s “100 Bands You Need to Know” designation. Third album By Night (2019, produced by John Congleton) pushed their sound into new sonic territory, adding synth and motorik rhythms to their dark, nervy post-punk core.
