The Vogues are a vocal quartet from Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania — a small suburb of Pittsburgh — whose rich four-part harmonies and heartfelt performances made them one of the most beloved pop groups of the mid-1960s. Originally known as the Val-Aires, the group renamed themselves and signed with a local Pittsburgh label in 1965, scoring back-to-back Top 5 national hits with “You’re the One” and “Five O’Clock World.” The latter became a cultural touchstone, later featured in the 1987 Robin Williams film Good Morning, Vietnam and used for years as the opening theme of The Drew Carey Show. Moving to Reprise Records in 1968, the Vogues added more hits with “Turn Around, Look at Me” and “My Special Angel,” both reaching #7. The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001 and continues to tour, delivering the warm, close harmonies that have been their calling card for more than six decades.
